ABOUT THE ARTIST
Personal Profile
Since 2006, Percy Avugiak has worked on a variety of creative projects. His works have been showcased in solo and group exhibitions, events, art auctions and public arts in Alaska.
Percy Avugiak is Inupiaq and Yup’ik. He grew up in Chefornak, Alaska. He graduated from the University of Alaska Fairbanks, with a BFA in Native Arts and Painting. Percy currently lives at Eagle River, Alaska.
Percy enjoys painting scenes from Alaska. His early paintings are whimsical Alaskan animals enjoying different scenes. His best work is his abstract Alaskan Native dancing and singing. He also specializes in traditional Yup’ik mask making, wood carvings, ivory carvings, acrylic paintings, drawing, as well in jewelry making.
